Samsung LE32R87BD Review

Samsung LE32R87BD ReviewThe Samsung LE32R87BD is a truly lovely looking LCD TV. With a polished finish and an arched bottom, it definitely looks stylishly modern and more expensive than it actually is.

With a generous 32” wide screen this is a great family TV. It’s HD ready, which is standard, and comes with built in freeview so no piles of cables and boxes around your TV. The picture quality is good, and it handles DVD and HD sources up to 720p and 1080i. Samsung boasts their wide colour range and depth is one of the best, with startling greens and blues which on regular TV’s can often be washed out. However this can be almost too much, with the colours taking on an unrealistic hue. This is easily fixed with manual adjustment if you don’t like it though, and you are still left with a vibrant picture.

It comes with 3 HDMI sockets, as well as component inputs and 2 scart inputs. This more than covers your DVD and gaming needs and the picture from a PS3 using HDMI cables is startlingly good. Samsung have also included a gaming mode which bumps the frame rate up to capture motion better.

The sound is solid but it lacks the bass depths that make for truly cinematic viewing. However since this is a problem with all flat screens (they just don’t have the space for decent speakers), it should not put you off buying it, but definitely consider buying separate surround sound speakers for a full movie effect.
