Sony KDL-32D3000 Review

Sony KDL-32D3000 ReviewWhen the Bravia ad campaign first hit (remember the balls rolling down the hill?) Sony set themselves a lot to live up to. Boasting spectacular colour and resolution, and touting the benefits of HD, the Bravia series sought to rule the LCD roost. The Sony KDL-32D3000 shows that they do, and easily.

With drool worthy technologies like 24 frames per second compatibility, which shows films at their intended 24 frame rate (rather than TV’s usual 25) so you get a true movie effect, and also the converse ‘motionflow +100Hz motion rendering’, which as Sony says, actually creates artificial pictures and inserts them into fast moving sequences to double the number of frames so that even the fastest sports are showing in a spectacularly crisp definition, with a lovely smoothness of movement.

It has 10 bit colour range which allows for great depth of colour and helps avoid the LCD viewing problems (the screen darkens at certain angles).

Without doubt one of the best things about this screen is the way it handles colour and contrasts, with an almost unmatched capacity to deal with blacks. Where many lower quality LCD’s will not be able to get true black and lose definition in darker shots, the Bravia D3000 series is able to lift up the rich texture of dark scenes while still reaching true black.

It has a swathe of connections including 3 HDMI ports for all your HD needs, as well as two Scart connections, composite, component, S video and PC connections. You could pretty much connect it to everything but your toaster.
It comes with the S-Force Front Surround Sound which creates a virtual surround sound and also inbuilt digital Freeview. It is of course HD ready.
