Sony KDL-40W3000 Review

This is a whopping telly for those with a whopping budget. This is the granddaddy of the Sony Bravia series and it comes in a massive 40” widescreen. You can get bigger than that, but you would need a room the size of a supermarket to really want it too much larger.

It’s at the top end of the price range for a reason. This TV has everything, every bell bob and whistle that you want in a TV. Its LCD screen is run by the excellent Bravia engine which has a huge colour range, and a reputation as one of the best on the market because it reduces colour distortion and pixellation, smooths motion and colour bleed and generally produces one of the crispest images you can get.

It has 6.2 mega pixel high definition resolution and 1920×1080 HD resolution. A particular feature that adds to the quality of movie watching is the ‘24p True Cinema’ mode. TV’s display in 25 frames per second so when you watch movies on DVD they are sped up by 4%. This True Cinema feature allows the panel to display at 24 frames per second so it has a much smoother look.

The colour depth is superb and the blacks are deep and dark, with not a hint of washing out. It comes with a plethora of connections including no less than three HDMI ports, so you can plug in Blu ray or PS3 or DVD’s and watch at the highest possible quality. It has every other port you need including several Scart, plus component, composite and S- Video as well as a PC input for if you download movies online.
